Area leading rider Ashley Farrant, who is also bidding for the national jockeys' award, moved on to 26 wins on the Devon and Cornwall circuit with a win on the David Pipe-trained Vivid Imagination.

He won the Mixed Open at the Stevenstone point to point, dominating in front of a bank holiday crowd to beat area leading female rider Lucy Gardner on Hasten Bak. Gardner has five wins and 44 points so far this season.

Farrant had also been on top form the previous day at Holnicote recording a treble on the Pipe-trained horses IamsaidI, Polar Champ and Ballysicyos.

Caroline Prouse has had three wins and three seconds this season, all on board her grand stayer Father Mansfield who turned an early bout of seconditis into a hat-trick of wins on the bounce in the Confined. She had to work hard to get home ahead of Farrant who was second on Squaddie.

The early races were dominated by the Heard family, son and father Liam and Colin.

Liam took his area tally to three wins and 21 points when he got Rice Point past the post in front of Sue Young on Andrew Congdon's O So Bossy. She was deputising for Jennifer Congdon who is sidelined for the second time this season with a broken collarbone.

Colin Heard followed up in the second race, the Restricted. He won on his won and wife Karen's Budghill in a close finish with Andrew Glassonbury on Indian Raider.

Heard senior, who is now eligible for the area's over-40 award, had also been in the winners enclosure at the DSSH meeting at Holnicote on So Peaceful.

Tabitha Cave won the Intermediate on the Gordon Chambers-trained Mystic Warrior.
